>>99823738I have had none of them but researched them a bit when considering it. I haven't done my reps on her situation but ketamine is definitely an upgrade from ECT. Not medical advice etc etc
ECT is outdated and only really done as a last resort now. Significant memory loss is the main risky side effect.
rTMS is sort of like the new ECT, safer and more effective, usually what they recommend now. Still risky imo, lots of negative anecdotes online.
Ketamine seems as effective as rTMS but has a lot less research on it. it seems a lot less risky. Most of the negative anecdotes I saw were just "I didn't feel a difference". You do it alongside therapy because it basically just makes you more suggestible like the other anon said. Due to the legal and patent complications it's also really fucking expensive.
Both rTMS and ketamine are done with a few weeks of regular treatment and then recommended "maintenance" treatments. Both seem to have the general side effect of making you dumb and forgetful during the regular treatment period, but ketamine is probably less likely to fuck her shit up. If she doesn't have to pay out of pocket for it, then I am very jealous.
