In fact, Archons are originally called 神 (gods) in Chinese with 魔神 (demon gods) being used for all the non-archon gods such as Osial (the water serpent god you fight right after Tartaglia).
It's an important distinction between how the older gods are considered as evil while the Archons are considered as the good guys and the saviours by people.
In fact, they sometimes forgo the God entirely in the English localization and just call them lord like with Guizhong being called a Lord of Dust instead of 尘王魔神 (dust lord demon god), which takes away from the fact that she is a god.
