>>36853344Anyone who wants to delve into hardcore kayfabe needs to know how to strike a balance on having an intriguing backstory and dealing with the inherent mundanity that's streaming. I've said this before and this may be my naivete talking, but Callie really inspires me as one of the best character-driven vtubers I've seen. It works so neatly due to the magical girl genre being interconnected with the typical modern life of a girl, so any of her roommate's stories always have a wrapping of kayfabe to them for an added measure of protection. They're elevated from normal personal stories to a peek into the civilian life of a magical girl that reminds us what she's fighting to protect. I also think the simplicity of the model adds an additional level of approachability in how she presents herself, the versatile wardrobe being an extension of the moods and passions of a modern girl who just so happens to be magical. Her integration of shoujo fantasy tropes and how easily real life topics can blend into her kayfabe due to the fact that magical girls are typically placed in the modern era earns it that much needed plausibility that doesn't give the ludonarrative dissonance viewers get when watching some other streamers.
