>>46188281Here is a translation of what Kson was saying during the stream. It was a rant and somewhat rambling and all over the place.
She wasn’t saying an agency is slavery and even said there is a difference between following guidelines and slavery, she just doesn’t like the idea of strong restrictiveness becoming the expected norm across all vtubing from fans, especially those overseas.
Points that I think she was trying to make
>being a weeaboo does not require being a unicorn, being a unicorn is not the default state for all Japanese or something to idolize>vtubing streaming has more possibilities for variety. Some go an idol approach, others are comedians and others just get their tits out. All approaches can be valid.>that said she understands vtubing is a business and businesses will follow the money, same for vtubers themselves so if they choose to go a certain route over others for that reason then that is alright>while she herself believes a vtuber will do better if they don’t have significant others to distract from vtubing she doesn’t believe it is mandatory to be that way and it is just her view, other options are still respectable>Japan tends to favor obedience and America traditionally favors independence, but blind restrictive obedience is not something she likes and not something she wants to become seen as the only “real” way of vtubing and it has become more like that overseas as well due to weeaboo thinking that is an ideal part of real Japanese cultureI guess a comparison might be Towa’s situation. She had her infamous yab (not the lying part, the voices part) and it caused her numbers and growth yo plummet on the Japanese side. Overseas fans saviorfagged and helped prop her up as she was forced to shift her content and rebuild her channel. These days you’re more likely to see people overseas saying it served her right and laughing about it. Holos used to collab with males pretty regularly in their early days but that fell to the wayside with additional focus on idol and unicornpandering. For those that accept the risks and want to chase that for dollars that is their choice, but the important thing is that it is their choice. Those that go a different route aren’t automatically worse, just different.
