Only way an "Eternal Rival" can be defeated for good is if you completely dominate him/her in bed. To this day we don't know who won, who lost but the results of that fateful battle is still visible to this day.
Personally i believe at least one of the girls didn't realize what they were getting into, that's way there is so confusion in they relationship after the "Final Battle Between Eternal Rivals".
