>>74590844It wasn't necessarily her termination in and of itself that fucked the corpo, but rather the horrifically stupid way they handled it.
In theory, insubordination (like, say, publishing an MV without following proper procedure and getting it approved first) is just cause for termination. Niji WAS technically justified in getting rid of her, but then they completely shat the bed by turning her termination notice into a fucking Tumblr callout post.
Predictably, people didn't respond kindly to that sort of unprofessional smearing. Nijisanji, for whatever reason, decided to ignore this negative sentiment and double down with the black screen stream, which ALSO dragged several of their biggest talents into the line of fire.
Getting the talents involved at all was an unbelievably awful play, because Nijisanji is a goddamn talent agency whose ability to profit inherently hinges on whether people want to support the talents. It goes without saying that audiences generally DON'T want to support a person who has been accused of bullying a coworker to suicide, especially when nobody involved has given any indication that the accusation might be false.
ALL THEY HAD TO DO was release a neutral/vague termination notice and things would have blown over—but no, they just HAD to go out of their way to try and drag the name of one of their top talents through the mud, because I guess they don't understand what "optics" means.
Just THINKING about how badly they fumbled the situation makes me mad. Nijisanji's PR team had better be out of their jobs for this fuckup.
