>>97314744So currently, the idea is that "Holos are sick because they hung out with someone who was sick", but that's an oversimplified perspective on how a contagious illness spreads.
It's the easiest to assume because the majority of the time people 'hanging out' with a sick person is a first contact event. I think the previous year was a pretty straightforward example of this.
Girl gets sick, other girls come into contact with sick girl for the first time since they got sick and are still contagious, direct transmission occurs, the other girls show symptoms 2-3 days later.
But here's a hypothetical. Let's say I've fallen ill with something that has an average contagious period of ~2 days and an incubation period of also ~2 days, on a Monday.
Despite ths, you and I hang out on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. The next Tuesday comes and you start feeling bad. Now which day was it that I got you sick?
Trick question-- I didn't; at least not through direct transmission. If I were to have gotten you sick, it most likely would've been from the first Tuesday, and you would've started feeling bad on Thursday. First contact.
If I did get you sick, assuming first contact probabilities, it would've more likely have been indirectly or via chain infection-- meaning I got someone else sick on Tuesday, who then got another person sick on Thusday, who then got you sick on Saturday (by which time I'm already no longer contagious btw).
If Kiara was responsible for getting the girls sick, it's probably not because they hung out since they likely made first contact with her over a week ago and would've gotten sick much earlier, but because she transmitted to someone at Cover who then transmitted to the girls -when they made first contact with said individual- when they were all together for FES.
