Looking on the more finished product on the left you can clearly see shadows and that the gem is laying ontop of the chest area. We do not see the same outline and protrusion on the right picture. He clothes are hugging around the chest area.
Nothing against flats or anything though, just from "artdiscussion" and anatomy I'd say something is hiding in there.
