The idea of Shabestans is really neat, I didn't know about them but it makes a lot of sense. "Pumping" the air through by drawing it out with wind is pretty clever, I wonder how they came across that before fluid mechanics were figured out. I guess it makes some instinctive sense. Also neat how they're used to craft the soundscape of the cities, kinda like ambient music everywhere, that would be handy for setting scenes happening in them.
That quote from Invisible City caught me offguard, at first I thought that was an in-universe quote and taught "Italo Calvino? Interesting name, doesn't really sound vnugian" kek. It's a beautiful quote though, wonder if the book is a good read.
