>>95008074>I can assume with time the tech will improve.Cover (the biggest company, owners of the brand Hololive) is stupidly autistic about using their own in-house tech, which is now inferior to the apps commonly used by everybody else. This is why their models are janky. Many small corpos and indies have much better tracking, especially MUCH better face tracking. (Tracking means how well the virtual model replicates the actor's movements and facial expressions.)
>Did people always use an iphone for it?An iPhone X or later has always been the best tool for vtubing, because it has a 3D scanner called a LIDAR or laser radar built into it (actually two, one in the front and one in the back) that is used for unlocking the phone with your face and for animating those 3D avatars the iPhose had that nobody uses anymore, which are kind of vtuber models.
>Apple introduced the TrueDepth sensor on the iPhone X in 2017. Its use case was primarily for Face ID technology to ensure the unique qualities of a face could be identified and not fooled by a regular camera.>The sensor works by projecting thousands of invisible Infrared dots which can be used to calculate the depth.
