Also while rwby by itself was probably profitable, literally every single other of their was either disappointing or actually disastrous like Gen:Lock. Couple that with the fact that Rwby is most certainly on the wrong side of the hill when it comes to its popularity and as such can no longer carry as many
flops.It was obvious half a decade ago that RT was past it's prime so I can see why WB would think its better to just call it quits than try to completely reorganized this relatively small division.
