>>81498111It used to be that clips were translations which couldn't be gotten anywhere else. But more and more there are low-effort clippers who simply clip only EN and can't even transcribe properly, actually making the experience even worse.
Not only that, it's evident that many clippers aren't even watching the streams themselves but other clippers - they see what their peers do and then go off and clip the exact same moments, hoping to get lucky in the algorithm and be first.
The argument that it helps promote vtubers doesn't even hold as it increasingly becomes more and more top-heavy and clippers become more and more hellbent on optimizing views over variety - some would rather clip a Gura stream from two years ago than any number of more recent streams from other holos.
So yes, it's good that they get more and more chances of getting demonetized. Don't see it as killing clipping, see it as returning it to its roots. Now clippers are freed from the temptation of filthy lucre and can do it for the love of the art and vtuber instead. They do not need to feel shackled to trying to squeeze an extra ten dollars out of the same clip everyone else has already clipped. As less low-effort clippers get filtered out, the cream will rise to the top. Isn't it wonderful?
