>>35615930I imagine the bugs are pretty big so you probably can’t keep them in a pouch. Maybe one of those shopping bags that people carry their Pom around? I think they’re reasonably resilient to the elements since they live in the subpolar forest in the wild so letting them just fly around or keep them on your head and shoulders
hehe should work. I think if Tosklo has a fixed living place it would probably include a box for the bugs to rest in like a man-made beehive. They’re kinda brittle (although I guess Palkyries and even humans are when fighting against monsters) so you don’t want them to be in direct fight. My story kinda touched on that as the hunter distracted the beast with the opening stab and the numbing goo to keep the beast from noticing the bitterbug taking a bite at its hind
>>35616036They can be trained and I think they should be able to understand simple commands. In the Owl the songstress summoned them with a whistle to attack her target, while in the short I just wrote the bitterbug was implied to be hiding until the hunter smashed the juice-filled egg (I read that from a /meat/bro a while ago – thank you for the idea!) on the target. It’s probably filled with something that attracts the bug so hunters can direct where they bite, both for getting specific body juice for specific effect and to guide them in places less dangerous
