Roboco has the GC570 which can only record 1080p60fps so she's doing this hack to be able to game at 144hz. I reckon she picked it up from a 2015 article before the new 60/120/144hz capture cards were available and doesn't know better.

The proper way to do it is to spend $250 on a good capture card that support the resolution&refresh rate of the gaming monitor like the Elgato 4K60 Pro or the GC573, and use the passthrough port or just clone the display output.
