imo Twitter is kind of a scapegoat, the real reason companies don't want loli characters is because sponsors themselves don't want to sponsor them. If you're a marketing employee for some major American game dev it's a bit of a hard sell to tell your superiors you wanna hire an anime girl that looks like pic related to promote your game.
