Demon's Souls ripoff/mod populated by Hololifers -- it would suck but in a good, uplifting, scrappy sort of way like you describe. Like the meta of the game progression would mirror the rise of Mori herself, but from the player's perspective, with Mori has a source of encouragement and strength... a muse, if you will.
