Sin is a very big deal, but just what is sin? And why exactly is it such a big deal?
The hebrew root word for sin has the meaning(one of them at least) of missing the mark(like when shooting with a bow and missing), as such when we sin we fail to meet the standard of God that He had in mind during the creation week
But why is that so bad? Well, it's quite simple, God is the giver of life, all life comes from Him, and He is eternal since He created time itself. And so, anything that misses that mark falls short of the eternal life that is of God's design; when He created, He did so without death, only once humanity fell did the world fall into death because they were not as God intended them to be, full of life that never ends. And so, as a direct consequence, we have something that is less than eternal life, life that eventually dies out
This is what it means when it says the wages of sin are death, but the gift of God is everlasting life. Through Jesus, God takes away the sin of the world and so any that takes God up on that gift will pass over from death to life. But when we reject God and His design which is everlasting life and love we are met with less, which turn into death and hate.
So the reason as to why sin is so bad is because it harms us humans! God doesn't need us, why should He care if we die? The reason why God cares is because He loves us and doesn't want us to suffer, His will is that none shall perish, but instead have eternal life.
Think of how much you love shondo, she hurts you through her actions or words, but you still love her, right? It's the same for me, but we are patient with her and forgiving; how much more forgiving and patient is God with us? He gives us the breath of life daily to give us another opportunity to choose Him, even when we keep spitting on His holy character and name, He still loves us and provides for us.
So i urge you to react to His love how you would want shondo to react to yours!
Choose Jesus Christ today! He doesn't want you to become perfect before coming to Him, come as you are and He will even wash your feet! He will perfect you and He will meet you halfway there!
