Recently you've been worrying about someone important to you a lot more often and feel that they deserve better than the circumstances they're in right now. You worry for their future and feel responsible for not doing more when you had the chance to.
You realize that it's not your responsibility and that you're only one person who has enough trouble just taking care of yourself but you still have a near constant guilt gnawing at you from deep inside.
Despite this fact even if you did want to do something and knew of something that you could do to change the situation you really aren't in the position where you're able to without immense risk to yourself, and even then the chance you could actually make any real difference is very low.
My advice is this..
Find someone else you care for who you're closer to like a roommate or a close friend who you're able to communicate with freely and try to channel your desire to help and be there for someone into them.
While this won't entirely remove your feelings of anxiety and guilt it will help to distract you a bit and if you comfort them enough then you might find that eventually those feelings are just okay.
In particular the spirits are pulling an image into my mind... Maybe try it with some silly little yellow guy with a leaf on his head. Dote on him a bit and treat him kindly and you'll feel like you're doing a little bit more good in the world.
