If people knew I liked vtubers (that aren't big names) I'd be considered a weirdo and no one would talk to me, so I don't talk about it to anyone that actually knows me. Same for my other hobbies and interests, each one lives in its own bubble where people who are within it get to talk about it with me but we never interact outside of that bubble unless we somehow breach containment and find out we share another interest because everything is compartmentalized out of fear of ostracization, shame and in the case of (for me)
guns, avoiding losing my job because someone who can fire me doesn't like it.
I've made good friends talking at Wintertodt in OSRS about anything from
guns to tabletop wargaming, for example of the "containment breach" angle.
It's a special hell, we just live with it because finding people who actually like the things you like is harder than just keeping the ones around that you already know.
