I didn't need to. I got recommended a vtuber playing Battle Network a few weeks ago, but she wasn't even enjoying the game so it was kind of a letdown.
She was basically just running away from all encounters so she can't get any better battle chips. She pretty much had to rely on Navi chips to get through required fights and rush through the story.
