>>88593033As a side note, ILuna was a major point of failure. They had the biggest debuts in Nijisanji history, and were so bad that they destroyed the hype for all future debuts. You can look at a graph and see that interest in NijiEN starts waning right when ILuna came to pass.
ILuna was the first mixed wave. It was never going to appeal to the western male fanbase, only to the asian women.
It seems to have been tainted by some horny manager inserting their own fetishes into the mix. The girls were all encouraged to be femdom and bully the boys, this created a series of awkward twitter interactions and unpleasantness that created a bad atmosphere for the female fans. The boys came with shota and femboy models, clearly playing into the femdom aspect, Ren and his standard Ikeman model was inserted almost as an afterthought. The female viewers hated it and clung to Ren despite his total lack of personality.
Overtones aside, the members chosen for the wave were extremely low quality in general. People today might point to Aia and Scarle being top-earners, but that's because they had such immense debuts, they were able to foster numerous gachis, just as a gold panner might pluck nuggets from his pan. Subsequent waves weren't so lucky, and were afflicted with low viewership and low donations. XSoliel was cursed with two female nepohires who didn't even speak the English language, once again showing how poorly management understood their own market.
It should have been obvious the mixed waves were a failure after the first two. But instead they kept going. Even the main branch doesn't spit out mixed waves the way that EN does, and all of them have been tremendous failures.
On the positive side, the failure of the mixed waves in NijiEN finally woke HoloEN out of their daze and got Omega fired once and for all.
