One of the first things they teach you art classes is that symmetry is kinda boring, since you're lazily copy-pasting one side to the other. An asymmetrical design helps break up the monotony on how a character looks like. Viewers find it more interesting when both sides have different or uneven elements.
Look at Gura, Ina, and Marine's clothes. Gura's sharkmouth on her hoodie isn't symmetrical, and Ina only has stockings and arm sleeves on one side. Marine has her heterochromia obviously, but her outfit is subtly assymetrical with her pins/medals being only on one side.
Aqua may seem Symmetrical at first, but even she has that single blue ahoge hair on one side.
