Vtubers are like a shitty form of virtual geishas and geishas by tradition were meant to form some unspecific types of emotional bonds with the customers they entertain. Without that much, vtubers are much much worse (and more expensive) than even the cheapest local comedian on a $0,20 ticket fee. They are (most of them) lazy and menhera women whose specific personality traits fuel the comedy itself, than rather themselves having any noteworthy comedian skills.
Anyone who tries to rationalize against this is objectively wrong. This is why upholding to certain etiquettes is very necessary (keep male-female collabs at minimum, focus on skill growth than rather drama and clout, etc). The good thing is that in 20 years vtubers will be probably completely useless in the parasocial sense, since we'll all have pocket waifus in an AI application that will provide that same kind of ""parasocial bond"" that vtubers provide, except exclusively and constantly
