dizzy: a bigger pot with fresh soil holds much more water for much longer. if you water too much, the bottom will get really soggy and it will take a long time to dry out, since the top has to dry out first and wick up moisture from below. excessive moisture will suffocate the roots, and the classic symptom of root rot is yellowing leaves.
even though your plant has "shallow roots," they actually go like 60cm which isnt that shallow. what they really want is drier soil that drains more and holds less water, like a cactus mix or something. having a small container that dries out quicker achieves this, but you should be fine in your current situation if you just water less. wait for actual signs of thirst. it should be better once the roots have grown out more, since right now water is just chilling doing nothing for weeks and weeks.
