if chuubanite is going to be a thing, it might be a good idea to make our magic a bit stronger, possibly. we are a relatively primitive society living in a more advanced world, and while we are generally competent enough to get around, and possibly even take advantage of any strengths of our enemies, there is only so much we can do to even the playing field without our magic. if that magic takes the form of a finite resource, then we will either not have enough of it to defend from an attack, or we will have so much of it that an attack will be guaranteed. having the healing abilities of Mai-chan is pretty powerful, but they were supposed to prove that even one of the weaker abilities would be fairly powerful
this being in responce to someone threatening to kill us off immidiately. i told them that we are stronger than we may appear. another option is to make our soldiers almost inhumanly competent. this isn't necessarily an unrealistic option. for instance, we talk about breaking/fracturing bones to make them more dense. we should do that for our elite soldiers, too. some indians walk on their bare feet so much that they can step on sharp objects without puncturing
no, i am not talking about the whole "bed of nails" "pressure spreading out over space experiment" kind of thing combine this with our knowledge of medicine and we should be pretty survivable even without our magic, plus the whole "live off your enemy" thing we are discussing now. personally, as the person who probably made that suggestion, my idea was a kind of "improvized weaponry" and "jury rigging" that would allow our soldiers to always have options no matter what condition they are in. we have supply lines, but we wouldn't need them, so our supply lines wont be as stressed from a prolonged raid, which is already something we would ideally avoid.

>>19290267eldrich horrors from comma, or superhuman healing from Mai-chan. either way, we should hopefully be pretty powerful.
