You were sitting there, just fine, dining with your family, when you felt a sharp pain in your chest. You clutched it instinctively, but your energy quickly gave away. The world began to melt together and blur as you attempted to get up and immediately collapsed onto the floor, the panicking faces of your family and the other people in the diner surrounding you...
>beep
You woke up in a daze to what felt to you like mere moments later. Faceless people transport you to a room in a wheeled bed, and you can't even move your body to escape it. You are trapped. The blanket covering you is thin yet feels heavier on your chest than anything ever before. The fabric rubs against your skin while you're being carted off, the abrasive material it's made off of feeling like sandpaper on your skin.
>beep
Suddenly, everything stops. The bed begins to bed, forcing you forwards, until eventually you're sitting straight up, almost as if it had become a chair. Or... is it a chair? You regain control of your body, your hands trembling as you look at them. Your eyes focus, the world becoming more and more sharp until you can make out a person... their desk cluttered with papers. You can't make out the letters, why?
But you can make out a name plaque.
>Ouro Kronii
The ringing in your ears begins to subside...
>"...afraid it's fatal. But don't worry, there..."
>"What?"
>"Your disease can be cured."
>"My..."
>"By a free of charge surgery!"
>beep
You lose control of your body again and lurch back, almost as if your chair was being pulled back. Doors open by themselves and you're dragged through miles and miles of infinite hallways. Your eyes unfocus and refocus, one poster on the white hospital walls begins to slowly stretch, becoming the walls themselves...
>COME AND GET YOUR SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS
>beep
You come to a sudden halt, the 'chair' bending down. Straps emerge from it, wrapping around your body and keeping you tightly bound. They press against your chest and your neck, just loose enough to allow you to breathe, just tight enough to make you feel as though you can't. The curtains open and Kronii pours out, surrounding you on all sides.
>"Beginning operation."
>EMERGENCY SURGERY ROOM
>*ding!*
>IN USE
>BE BACK IN TIME
>"Kronii, pass me the scalpel!"
Your face itches.
>"Kronii, you're too slow! He's not gonna make it!"
Your face itches really, really badly.
>"Kronii! The patient is in critical condition! We don't have time!"
Your face itches so much that you break out of the restraints. Your arms snap the straps open, and they flail around wildly, whipping the Kronii, who stand there in silence. You jump out of the bed, running as each Kronii slowly turns their head to face you.
>beep
You scratch and scratch at your face as you run through countless double doors, but the itch doesn't stop no matter how much you keep at it. Pieces of your face begin to chip off without any blood, falling to the floor like torn-off pieces of paper. IT'S KRONII TALKING TIME. Every door looks the same, there's no number, how can you find your way?
>"Anon..."
Your wife is talking to you. Pay attention. Stop scratching your face, what's wrong?
>"Anon, you promised me... you'd let me become YOUR GOD"
Hahaha, what's wrong with your face? Hahahaha. What's wrong with your face? Hey. Answer me.
>"So why is it that you keep running from me? Even when you were begging for me to come back, to show up more in your life... now all you do is run away. Defying your God? How insolent."
The exit is so near. It says EXIT on the sign, that's how you know. But, but, but but but but, do you know what's really interesting? What's really funny?
>beep
>beep
>"But... it doesn't matter. Because.."
>beep
You barge through the doors, your hands covered in flaked-off skin. Your face feels numb and your mind feels sharp, you can see everything. As you walk through the exit, a fruit fly flies by in front of you. Your eyes focus on it as its wings start beating slower and slower, and it freezes in mid air...
>beep
You're so busy focusing on it that you don't even notice you haven't exited the hospital. Your stomach hits against the corner of a desk as you run towards it, causing you to keel over in pain. You raise your head, looking at the person sitting behind the desk. It's...
>"But you can't exactly run away from God, right? Especially not when you're in Her heaven, and especially not when you're... well..."
>beep
Kronii takes a long thermometer, using it to point towards the eastern side of the wall. There's a foggy mirror there, which you slowly approach.
>beep
The fog in the mirror begins to clear up, and your blurry reflection slowly comes into view.
>beeeeeep
You reach out your hand, and so does the reflection. Your fingers touch, and you stare Kronii deep in the eyes. Is she a patient in this hospital too...?
>beeeeeeeeeeeep
Wow...
You really are... something beautiful.
>"Hey, what's wrong with your face, Kronii? Haha."
>beeeeeeeeeeeeeeep...
