Even if the plot is a blatant shitpost (interdimensional vampires attacks a colony ship and they are repelled by a guy piloting his mecha singing and his songs), the development of the story is rad af, the songs are all pure kino, personally I consider all the Fire Bomber's discography one of the highest point of Macross's soundtrack. The gimmick of using Fire Bomber's songs or the noise character produces while playing instruments as the entire soundtrack is fun enough to overcome the fact that for the first half of the series Basara sings the same 3-4 songs in loop.
I could list a lot of shortcoming of Seven, but the amount of fun and enjoyment it gave to me managed to compensate it. I really love Seven and it's not only my favorite Macross, but one of my favorite anime too.
I really wish Suisei would cover Holy Lonely Night or Try Again.
