> She keeps calling herself my goddessNene, I love you but don't tempt me to iconoclasm please.
>>45870380> In non-abrahamic religions, angels are a type of god.Angels only exist in Abrahamic religions. Lesser spiritual beings in other world religions don't really fit the pattern or function of the Abrahamic "messenger" entity which mediates between God and His people (further obfuscated as certain Rabinnic and Christian interpretive traditions regard "The Angel of the Lord" as a euphemism for a manifestation of God or a Messianic figure and not an angelic character in the normal sense)
That's all to say it's much more complicated than you've characterized it.
What IS true is that the oriental concept of godhood, divinity and deity are not comparable to the western one and least of all the Christian west. If Nene's frame of referance is a Japanese shinto/buddhist notion of the kami her use of the term goddess isn't as sensational as if she were asserting godhood with the full force that concept has for a decidedly western mind.
And yes I am and will continue to overthink the theological implications of offhand gimmicks vtubers incorporate into their streams.
It's what I was born to do.
