Whether the community supports and befriends each other or whether the community congregates to compete for attention, the vtuber is responsible.
It is the vtuber's responsibility to encourage viewers to socialize because they are uniquely in the position to influence a large number of people.
Unfortunately it is too tempting to just take all the attention for yourself as a vtuber which directly fosters an environment of jealousy and competition.
The best ones actively discourage simping and call out those who are present solely to talk to a cute girl. I have no examples.
Another option is to choose to entirely disconnect, closing DMs and never talking in the Discord (like Lapin) or actually just not having a Discord (like Lilyhops). This is not ideal but it's good if the vtuber has poor mental health or are poor at babysitting their viewers.
