>>89382021The great thing about Clannad isn't the tragedy, but the fact that it goes from a fairly trashy high school romcom to a surprisingly grounded story of a single father struggling to face responsibility. Yeah the ending is an asspull but to date no other anime has ever hit me as hard as the scene where Tomoya finally makes up with his father and recognizes that he tried his best despite being a pretty shitty dad and then realizing that he turned out just like his old man, except he got the support he needed to turn his life around that his father never had.
