But women just like men can be self sabotaging, there's plenty of mediocre men who sabotage themselves under the guise of "she's too good for me".
Women are all kinds of fucked up and the ones with really bad self confidence issues will reject relationships they would otherwise take.
To use Filian as an example, she is 110% convinced she is career endingly ugly and is very insecure about it.
Filian has a fantastic personality and fun hobbies, she also has a fit athletic body so unless her face is literally deformed she would do fine in a relationship as while she's young her body can be enjoyed and looks matter less as you get older so if she kept thin she'd be set.
But her insecurities over her face will continue to sabotage her until something major happens:

Her biological clock hits her hard enough for her to overcome her insecurities
