I made a reddit account seven days ago for the first time in my life and it's just as bad as the legends say. I've never seen such a conformist echochamber. Upvotes/downvotes are absolutely everything, reputation is everything and people there will suck dick and eat shit to get it. Absolutely no form of questioning the established consensus is allowed without the "punishment" and ridicule via downvotes. It is a kind of mental gulag where the inmates are the kommisars. It's blackpilling as fuck to use the common parlance. The kicker is I joined inoffensive and very basic news/world events/economy subreddits and stayed away from anything too spicy or controversial. I can't even imagine how "serious" subreddits are like. Absolutely no discussion is possible in that place, it's the ultimate tool for enforcing conformism and unthinking blind obedience. A lovely paradox is evident on the website - it is nominally for discussions and such, but no actual discussion can take place.
It's the most disgusting site I've ever seen, and a cautionary tale.
