>>34410543If I’m reading it right, I think passive effects just come online the material gets chuubanite in it, which can be useful (see the wildlife part below) but I think what’s depicted in my story makes the specific effects pretty obvious to be activated by songs, hence my question on how to make it fit with this setting
I do want to work out how /vnug/ and /kr/ chuubanite work eventually and I’m asking about it in the thread. I don’t know if /vnug/ has an obvious enough identity to have a themed chuubanite though…
>>34409532>contact with a different materialBut wouldn’t it mean the active effect will be activated the moment chuubanite fuses with the molecules, rather than activating only after the songstress plays her songs?
>soundwave & molecule as activation patternI was kinda leaning towards the latter but now that you mention it, I think the former also makes sense! It also kinda fits with the Finnish inspiration when it comes to magic, since AFAIK spells in Finnish mythology work by singing specific songs that are relevant to the effect (things like stories and the origin of some of the materials), and magic duels are done by two wizard-bards playing off each other until one side runs out of (truthful) songs. Maybe /vnug/ (or at least Penelite) magic requires both to be the most effective?
I’m thinking that one of the reasons why /vnug/’s forest seem kinda supernatural is because the trees there naturally secrete organic molecules in the air (I’m told that’s why the Blue Mountains in Australia look blue, and is one of the reasons blue is connected to the songstress’ illusion in the story), and the chuubanite in the molecules results in both some of the wildlife being more powerful than they should (and lead to the bitterbug juicing culture), and how Penelite bards can do magic by playing and singing.
/vnug/ culture eventually starts studying how that works and discover how extracts react to specific songs and words so they start extracting the oil from the trees, and eating/drinking them makes you much more vulnerable to the magical songs (for better or worse) since there’s more of it in your system than simply taking a deep breath in the forest. Specific ratio of the oil might also yield for complex effects that you can’t get by simply sniffing the trees
>seasonsI’m glad you like it and it fits with your experience! I ended up with the 7-seasons model because I thinks it feel more unique, as the way I call the 8 seasons a while ago feel like I just chopped up the 4 seasons and call it a day. What about the other seasons? Anything else that you think I should add to the description?
>auroraTo be fair when you live in somewhere where the sky sometimes light up like an iTunes Visualizer it’s kinda hard not to have it play a role in your religion. It also fits in this particular instance since aurora’s considered (among other things) the shiny armor of valkyries
HAG YA indeed!
