Chiming in here, many of the boys' nations have fantastical elements and monster people because my primary area of interest is mythology rather than history. I don't see why there having been a migration would make monster people less likely -- in fact it seems it would make sense if the original migrants were more closely related to their gods, and more monster-like. Mixing with locals who were already here would have perhaps diluted down the blood down to what pomerlane anon describes -- people with fantastical heritage who are largely just human. Pomerlane anon, if you don't want to work with monster people, I propose that dragoons/pomudachi/etc within the main /nijien/ lands are perhaps more monster-like than those who have moved outside it to their dedicated kingdoms.
