You could change pretty much anything about their outfit and hair and you'd still be able to recognize "them", but change the eyes and it feels like a totally different model. Bad eyes, e.g. your IRyS 1.0 example, can completely kill a design. Good example of good eyes doing a TON for a design is Shiori. Her eyes are so good that people simply photoshopping them onto other girls makes for decent designs with just that one change.
>>93261715I think I might slightly qualify that part of "good eyes" is generally good facial proportions, though, as in the eyes have to fit in well on the face and the nose, mouth, and ears, all need to be positioned correctly and roughly the right size. I guess the most important element overall is the face as a whole, a good mouth, nose, eyes, and ears. But yeah, the face overall is what we'll be seeing 99% of the time. I think this is also something that a lot of western VTubers really, really struggle with, but I believe Nimi will do better than most.
