I didn't know what it was so aI looked up a video and in that process they stretch and flip-flop it continuously. In that process air bubbles are formed which are trapped inside, thereby increasing the size of the slime. There was a comment on that video describing a process in which you can literally blow up the slime like a balloon. While both set to achieve the same result(increase the slime size), you can clearly concur how the word 'inflate' is more appropriate for one of them.
It also got me thinking, that we don't say we are inflating the dough but say that we are leavening it or proofing it.
At the same time, however, Clara's arguments were really weak in the sense that the bubbles we make in water eventually escape into the atmosphere.
