Just when you think he's actually developed after the first arc it's revealed that he actually hasn't changed at all despite losing literally everything he cares about. He even laments about this later in the manga and continues to stay a retard. The most recent chapters have him getting a handy in a back alley from an autistic girl after his house burned down. Now he's trapped somewhere and they're baiting an appearance Power and Aki. I think the author is creatively bankrupt.
