Not exactly thrilling gameplay if you want to get to the action but the setup almost makes sense as some of the characters reappear later on too like Malo becomes a tycoon and one of the villagers is part of the hero vigilante group whatever their names were.Oh I agree, on its own it wouldn't be so bad and nothing out of the usual for a Zelda. OOT starts with running around its forest village to get the sword and money for a shield too, it serves as an introduction and tutorial on how to play the game. Majora's Mask has its little chase sequence for the same and then the 1st loop as a deku. The difference is those are all there is to them and they are relatively quick before the game gives you a dungeon or opens up. Twilight Princess is extremely linear about what you can see or do for a very, very, very long time.
