>>85212477I respectfully disagree. Having an easily digestible design is better for recognition and memorability. Similarly, having a design that viewers find appealing lends itself much more to fanart and fan engagement. At least in my opinion, I put a lot of stock into how a vtuber looks. If they're appealing and their design matches their personality, it's easier to connect with them.
That aside though, I wasn't necessarily even asking with "becoming big" in mind. I wanted to create a character that I love, but I hit a road block creatively and needed a nudge. I do agree with doing whatever you want, though. At the end of the day I'm making the character for myself and my tastes.
