>>46021439Oh, I did have this weird idea. It would be fungi that is in a symbiotic relationship with some (or even just one) species of whale. It grows where you'd expect to find barnacles, replacing them in this ecological niche. They'd form those chitinous, spiked plates that help the whales protect themselves. The fungi benefits by getting a ride down to hydrothermal vents rich in chuubanite where the whale tends to hunt.
These whales would be a prized hunting target, since those plates make for nice, highly chuuni armor. I'm not sure the professor would be interested in a ride on a whaling ship though, so do with this what you like kek.
