>>80625262 here, I literally have hundreds of games to play at any given moment but back in the day any kusoge I could get my hands on was good for me because there wasn't a lot of options. It's a lot different to be able to buy one game per month vs dowloading a whole console library to emulate.
Worth noting that a lot of purchase decisions weren't based on my own preferences but on availability, leading to exposure to completely different kind of games, a lot of genres were first-time experiences back then. Now all the games in the same genre are at my fingertips and I don't have to branch out and challenge my taste in games and discover things I never knew I would like. Which is ironic because it's vtubers that made me rethink that attitude. One example of a recent game leaving a huge lasting impression on me was Xenoblade and I wouldn't have even looked in its direction if not for Elira.
