They should watch Island. It's the last visual novel adaptation we got for a recent VN. I had to go through the list of anime from the past several years and it's like VN adaptations have been completely phased out nowadays. The only other stuff we got were some poor adaptations of old stuff like MuvLuv and Yuno. Island is the only adaptations of a recent VN and I think they would probably like it despite the pacing issues in the show. At least I liked it a lot and my taste is very similar to Fuwawa's taste.
