Here is exhibit #735 for why "REAL MALE VTUBERS HAVE NEVER BEEN TRIED" is such a meme
>no living man can ever compete with the imagination and expectations of the current female media consumer
Amusingly enough, there were two that managed to secure that exact target audience and then, out of sheer stupidity, threw it all away
1) Connor. He used to voice a "black butler" (or something) character way before vtubers were a thing and got showered with this type of audience attention only to throw everything away because he was not getting enough money (back then) and the audience grossed him out
That is one of the things I assume he kicks himself forever and a day because had he transitioned it to a full blown live2D animated vtuber he could have made bank way before pretty much anyone in the English speaking market.
2) Vox. Down to a T for that description: rapey vampirey presumably wealthy. He secure some shekels from that exact audience then threw it all away because
1) he's too dumb to keep his beer belly, wrinkled and badly tucked shirt and corny belt out of his main account
2) he as well got grossed out by the behaviour of that audience
I don't think anyone can play that role straight and keep going for years, it might take a toll in a bloke's mind to have to endure that deranged audience.
I put it at the same level of unwitting furry illustrators, unless that is what rocks his boat anyone doing that will retire very early
