Shitting on 3 has always been a 4chan pastime, so all of the Reddit intellectuals eventually changed their opinions in order to fit in. The result has been a combined effort to systematically ruin everyone's happy memories, out of spite or something.
It's completely deserved on Bethesda's part, even if Obsidian doesn't necessarily deserve all of the praise.
