Hold on /wg/, hear me out for a minute.
If this "essentials" list is really for the sake of new readers then simply slapping the fics onto one big list going to help. They might, for example, while looking at this list pick up a fic from the early months of /wg/ and find its prose shit and wonder how such an amateurish story became an essential. Similarly, a new reader might pick up Paradise Lost and think we're all a bunch of scat fetishists.
If you're really determined to get an essentials section listed somewhere, you might need to give a bit of context as to why a fic has been recommended.
>Omelas is generally agreed upon as the fic that shifted /wg/'s focus from an abuse general to a writing general
>The Perfect Day won the first /wg/ contest
>Paradise Lost is a commonly referenced shitpost fic
And so on.
And to throw my hat into the ring, I think the two fics at the very top of the list should be It's /wg/'s Birthday and its sequel. What better stories are there to introduce someone to the thread?
