The psychology behind this is actually really simple.
If you treated Sayu like garbage a year ago, and right now are on Selen's side over the exact same shit, it forces you to come to terms with the fact that when it came to Sayu you were a bad person who dogpiled on a victim and helped her abusers. Recognizing a mistake of this magnitude is a HUGE ask on the ego for a regular person, nevermind for streamers, artists and/or twitter addicts who are already more self-absorbed than the average individual.
