How Hololive, which was once seen as an attractive alternative to the traditional idol industry, has now become just like it.
The graduations will continue because Vtubers can be easily replaced. Therefore, anyone not performing adequately or conforming to the new ways management wants things done will be drubbed out by means fair or foul. They can assembly line waifus from a practically unlimited talent pool, all of whom are desperate to become a star.
Viewers will complain when a tuber graduates, but they’ll either latch onto someone else and continue to consoooom content, or move on and be replaced by newer fans who will be just as quick to part with their money.
When your viewer base and revenue continues to grow regardless, when you are making money hand over fist - what incentive is there for management to bend to viewer demands?
None. If the cash cow is still mooing, it’ll be milked. And nobody will do shit.
That’s just business. The same awful, exploitative business Hololive was supposed to be different from.
Coco being run out was the canary in the coal mine.
