IT'S study time. WHAT TO DO WHEN THERE'S SOMEONE WITH AIRWAY OBSTRUCTION?
First thing's first, let's define what Airway obstruction is. From the term itself, it means there's a blockage in your airway. Obstruction could either be anatomical meaning that the something from your body is causing it, could be your tongue or edema (swelling) because an allergic reaction, or mechanical, meaning there may be a foreign body lodge in your airway and this is where choking belongs to usually.
WHAT TO DO?
1. back blow - slap their back, commonly used for babies (pls support the neck and the head)
2. heimlich maneuver - basically abdominal thrust, make a c motion with your hands when you hit the abdomen this pushes out air to help them expel stuff
3. chest thrust - for obese and pregnant women
4. finger sweep - if the person is unconscious and you can see the object, you can use your fingers to sweep it out (but in irl if u see someone unconscious pls check their ABC first bcs you might need to do CPR or provide rescue breathing if the person is no longer breathing and is unresponsive.
now you know how to save a choking person! SAVE LIVES!
