Idol culture is odd. You can view it from many different angles. Normalfags in their ignorance will argue vtubers are not real. Gachikoi will say they’re real enough. But when you get down to it, parasocial relationships cannot be converted to normal ones. It will all blow up the moment it moves to in person interaction, even if you were perfect for Gura and she loved everything about the real you. It wouldn’t be Gura, it would be her roommate. And she would be abandoning her other fans.
Chuubas seem to exist in this half-reality that only the Internet has made possible, a kind of social purgatory where neither party really knows the other, but they still try to love each other anyways. The more I think about it, the more interesting it is, but it also scares me sometimes.
