If the vtubers had value beyond being profitable, they wouldn't be so easily disposed of. Personally, I can only see that sort of thing happening to women who aren't willing to make themselves useful to those with the power to decide their fate.
Unless I'm completely wrong and they did, in which case that'd be absolutely tragic. But maybe that's why I'm not an idol producer for a black vtubing company, because I wouldn't have the heart to abandon a woman the moment she became slightly inconvenient. That'd just be a waste of a perfectly good resource, and bad PR to boot, all to appease an unappeasably irrational anger.
Then again, life isn't like an eroge, so maybe it couldn't have been helped. The world is a cruel place, and sometimes choices are hard to come by.
